Day 61 - (NORTH TRIP DAY 1) Iron Brigde, Preston Temple, First Baptisms, Lake District and Ambleside3/21/2018 Here is the overall trip map and the map for just today. A total for today is 6 hours and total trip is 18 hours. Today was the first day of our North Trip. It was a very long day, we started at 7 am on the bus. In total we spent 6 and half hours on the bus today. Our first stop was the Iron Bridge. We went out of our way to go see this amazing Iron Bridge only to get there and see that it was covered in scaffolding. I got really sick on the bus today. I have need been a person who gets car sick but this whole study aboard I have been so ill. We took a break at the Iron Bridge for 45 mins since that what the law requires for bus drivers breaks. After Iron Bridge we headed to the Preston Temple, it actually isn’t in the town of Preston but we stopped there after the temple. Here is the iron bridge and a picture of the newer houses that we see in the suburbs. Then the temple and a picture of the country side. I have a lot of video about the country side but the coach is going to fast for photos. Our next stop was Preston. These place is important for the early churches missionary. President Hinckley served here and some of the first baptisms were here. The square is where Hinckley stood and preached to the people. The white house was the first place the missionaries lived. My teacher told a horrible story about the night before the first baptism the missionaries were overcome by evil spirits. It was so scary, I will try to find it but it was really scary to think about evil spirts being around all the time. There’s a Japanese garden that the church owns and we visited. The river is where the first baptism took place and on the bridge that morning 7000 people gathered to watch.
Our last place for today was the city of Ambleside in the Lake District. Again I have videos of the country side but not pictures. Words can’t express the beauty of the Lake district. It is so pretty! It is kinda like Montana near flat head like but less people and not really mountains just very large hills. The town of Amble side was so cute!
