Today we went to the Picasso Musee, the Pompidou and Notre Dame. The two museums include more modern art like cubism and surrealism. We learned in class today that after World War I there was a shift away from styles like realistic art and rococo because people felt that these unrealistic upper class society caused the war. So the art world completely shifts towards more abstract arts by artists like Jackson Pollock, Picasso and Chagall. The first place we went was the Picasso Musee. It included almost 500 hundred paintings and drawings by Picasso. We learned about how Picasso wanted to show everything's not just have you assume that something is there. So that's why many of his faces has both eyes even though its head was turned sideways and all limbs were showing when they shouldn't have been. It was nice to understand Picasso more than before. Here's the Picasso Musee. The only painting that I really like was Girl Before A Mirror. Then we went to the Pompidou. It is very different on the outside, I honestly thought that it wasn't finished. We went for two different paintings but both weren't there anymore so we didn't stay long. We then climbed to the top of the Notre Dame since we didn't get to do that the other day that we were there. It's almost 400 steps to the top in a tiny spiral staircase. The view was really nice but everything is so beige with the river being flooded and all. The walkway gets really small in some places around corners. I'm not sure how some people are able to get around them.
