Today we just had Westminster Abbey and class. There was no photos allowed on the inside so you will have to just look it up online. It wasn’t in big as I thought it would be. It was still very fancy and cool that Kate and William got married here. Now we have been where Diana and Kate were married and where Megan and Harry are getting married next month. It is cool to walk down the middle of the abbey and recognize it from Kate and Will's wedding. The outside looks like a lot of it has slowly been replaced because of the bright white stones. I didn’t take this photo, I obeyed the rules but apparently this is Joseph Addison. There is one of his poems in the Hymn Book.

Today we had church but I have been extremely sick all week so I stayed home. I'll write a post on Church another day.
Today we spent most of the day during homework. I have a ton of assignments due so I spent Saturday doing that. We did take a one hour break and went to Primark but I only got one item so don't worry.
We started off the day bright and early and headed to Bath. It was about 2.5 hours away and it was so nice to see the country side. I love the country side here! Everything is so green and rolling hills. It is hard to take photos of it since the bus is always moving but I have some good videos that I can’t upload to weebly. The first stop is the Roman Baths in Bath. They were from when the Roman conquered England. That is Jessica and me at the Baths. Then that bust is a flavian woman. I love the hair! They really wore their hair like that and was usually wealthy people because it took a skilled hair person. The stacks of bricks and stones used to hold the floor up and there would be fires pumping hot air under the floors to heat the floors and waters. After Bath we headed to Stonehenge. It didn’t take too long from Bath to get there and the weather was getting really bad but right when we got off the bus the rain cleared, and the sun came out. It was awesome that the weather changed, and we got some good photos. The stones aren’t as big as I thought they would be. After Stonehenge we headed to Jane Austen’s house. We are reading Persuasion for class so that’s why we visited. A big quilt was made for some celebration and was at the house. It was a humble house on the inside. The doorways were really small. I hit my head just walking in and the photo of the display case has Jane Austen’s original wall paper. At the place you can write a letter with a quill, dress up or make a lavender bag. Then we walked to the chapel that Janes Mother and sister is buried at. The town is very quite and nice. I really like the country side and could see myself living out here some day but I still really like America. Austen's Mother and SisterWe headed back to the centre. We always hit really bad traffic that takes almost 30 mins to go 2 miles.
After class we took 3 different trains to get to Hampton Court. It took about 1 and half hours to get there. There really wasn’t that much to see at the court so we didn’t spend too long there. The Maze was closed so that was sad because everyone wanted to go to it. The gardens were our favorite parts. The fountain was turned on and we were like I wish we could go to Versailles on a day like today. After the Court we took the train to Covent Garden to get Liza her new phone. Her Iphone broke in Paris even though she got it 2 days before we left on the trip so she has been waiting for a new one since they had to ship it from the US. In Covent Garden there are lots of shops to look at and vendors. They have store called Ben’s Cookies and they are so good! They taste just like the old McDonalds cookies. So good!! Then we stopped at a few stores like Zara and TK Maxx. We didn’t get anything but just looked around. TK Maxx is the same as TJ Maxx. They have the same labels and everything just with a K instead of a J. Look at this sweater. Do you see how the arms are so long? I don’t get fashion some times.
Then we headed back for dinner and homework. I lot of people are going to shows all this week. I might go to one but the the cheap tickets have such bad seats that I’m not sure it is worth it. There are some seats that are only like 5 pounds, but it is standing room only and I don’t feel like standing for a 2 and half hour performance. The two that I would want to see are Les Mis. And Phantom of the Opera. I really want to go to the Ballet. I’m so bummed the other night I found killer seats at the Ballet for only 14 but I had kitchen duty, and everyone was going to shows so they couldn’t cover me. I like London, but I don’t like the Centre. The just isn’t time to do anything. In the other cities we didn’t do dinner together so after the site visits we had a free schedule to do whatever we wanted but having to come all the way back to the centre for dinner and go back out. I mean it just feels like I paid a lot of money to study in London in a class room and I know most of the others in the group feel the same. We started out today and headed to Runnymede. The Magna Carta is signed here. Since we have class in the morning we didn’t get to the Windsor Castle till a little past 12. It only took about 1 hour or so to get to it from the Centre. I was surprised how surrounded it is. I guess I thought it was out in the countryside by itself. After we got our tickets we went inside they had some free audioguides. The guy handing them out is had been to Utah and just wanted to talk about it. He just loved to talk about going to Utah and Rattle Snakes. The castle was pretty cool! The guides say that the Queen stays most weekend here at the Castle but she wasn’t there today. The St. George Chapel closed early so we started with the there. Turns out that Harry and Megan are getting married in the Chapel!!! So I was really excited to go inside and I can’t wait to see it for the wedding. I don’t know if it is going to be filmed but I’m really hoping that they do. Then we went inside the castle. It was fancy but I don’t think anything can pass Versaille. A lot of it burned doing a fire and has been redone. Here are some pictures from inside and outside that castle. After we left the castle we needed to get some food. Right outside the castle walls are a lot of stores and restaurants. They had H&M, Zara, McDonalds, Kristy Crème Donuts (I see the stores everywhere here, I guess they really like them). Since we haven’t had McDonalds like this whole trip we decided to go there inside of a pub. A lot of the places are closed since it is off season. McDonalds has never tasted so good. I just got fries and an ice cream, but it was really good. I was just regular McDonalds food but it tasted pretty good. We were so bummed that everything closed at 5:30 PM. We were all annoyed that the teachers had the bus stay till 7 PM because literally nothing was open. I’m serious, nothing was open and we can’t do that much homework without a computer so it was kind of waste of time.
We live right next to the Russian Embassy and several times a week there are protests outside. Since I didn’t make it out yesterday I had to go see two things today. We started after class to go to British Museum. We had to go see somethings of our Rome class. There weren’t any lines to get in so that was nice. Here’s so pieces from the Museum.
Then we went to the Library but no photos were allowed and we saw The Magna Carta and a few other important documents like War and Peace or Shakespeare Sonnets. That was about it because I’m on kitchen crew this week so I have to get back 30 mins before dinner and have homework to do. We have 3 hours of class a day in the mornings. I was really sick today so I didn’t go do the London Library like a lot of people in the group but I didn’t get one of my many essays done. My friend Molly saw the Royal Family!! I’m so jealous!! It was Commonwealth day and the whole family was at Westminster Abbey. She saw Kate, Will, Harry, Megan, Queen, Charles, Camila, Prime Minister of Scotland. She was pretty far away but still pretty cool.
Today we went started off going to the Dover Castles and visited the War Tunnels, then headed toward Canterbury Cathedral. I had to do my class report on Dover so it was cool to go and see it. We were all upset that we didn’t get to see the beach or white cliffs more because that is what Dover is so well known for. The teachers won’t give us any reasons for why we couldn’t see them. The weather was a lot colder than we thought it was going to be, but the mist made it pretty cool. We went straight to the tunnels because there is a long wait and we only had 2 hours at the castle. No photos were allowed in the tunnels but there really wasn’t that much to see. The majority was just videos to watch but I know some people in my group really liked it. There were two tunnel you could choose to go through: War and Hospital. Here is the one photo I got of the tunnel. Then we walked around the castle till we had to leave. There was super thick mist fog after we got out of the tunnel and it was so cool but we had a hard time finding our way out of the castle. The interior of the castle has been decorated how it would have been which it was still in use. Most historic places we go to are not decorated in that why. Canterbury CathedralWe then headed back home to do all our homework. There is so much homework and we are all getting really frustrated because it is hard to figure out what the teachers want. We aren’t getting good grades no matter how hard we are trying. It is just brutal. I’m getting 5 hours of sleep a night if I’m lucky and I’m more on top of my homework than half the group.
