Today we went to Southwark Cathedral, Borough market, and did the south of thymes walk for our class. The weather was pretty cold and windy but no rain today. We took the central line. The tube feels so slow here compared to Paris; Everywhere we go it says "mind the gap" which we thought was weird because the gap was not that big and was the same as Paris or Rome but today going to the Cathedral the gap was over 2 feet. It was huge! I can see why they say that now. We meet so many nice people today!! Everywhere we went the people were so sweet and just friendly to us. I don't know if all people are like this because we haven't been able to talk to a lot of natives. Heres the famous bridge we saw on our walk! and heres the view from the other side of bridge we are on. The third photo with the plaque talks about the London bridge which we were on. I thought the big one with the towers was the London Bridge but apparently it is not. I had to take a photo of the dragon for my essay so not super excited. Here is a really cute restaurant! The architecture was so pretty and I just love the colors and flowers. Here is Southwark Cathedral. We couldn't take any photos inside unless you paid. I have never seen a place that you have to pay to take photos. It is usually no photos at all or they are feel as long as you use no flash. It wasn't super fancy inside and it the youngest cathedral in England. I mean we have seen so many at this point that it is kind just like okay cool this is gothic because of the pointed arches, etc. There was a super nice old man who volunteers who was so excited to talk to people about the cathedral. He was so nice nice! He talked about how John Harvard ( founder of Harvard University) was the son of a Southwark butcher. They have a chapel inside dedicated to Harvard and Cambridge University. It was strange we were talking about Harvard on the way to the Cathedral with no knowledge that there was any ties to the Cathedral or Southwark. I don't know there have been a lot of weird coincidences that make you feel they were aren't random but can be tracked back to the Lord. Here is Borough Market! It is one of the famous food markets in London. It has so many different kinds of food! People of all economic back grounds were here. There were men in super nice suits from the Bank district which is only one stop away from Borough Market to people with humble clothing. The food is relatively cheap. Since we get breakfest and dinner at the centre we don't eat out a lot since lunch is usually left overs or sandwhiches. We don't have the time to eat out after classes either even if we wanted. I stole some photos from the internet that were better than mine. We bought brownies here 3 for 5 pounds. They were very good! After getting some food. We stopped at a tourist shop on the way to start our walk. I know what you are thinking really a tourist shop, hey this is the first one we have stopped at during this entire trip. I didn't buy anything, come on I'm smarter than that. I love the Megan and harry keychains; they also had flags with their faces on it. Also loved the corgi salt and pepper shaker. The stuff as assumed was pretty pricey. Here is the walk we took today. This was a shorter one but still took almost an 1 hour. Some of the other walks are 2 hours and then we have to write an essay about it. This whole trip is essay after essay after essay. Emey, Emma and Me ![]() It is the Harry Potter bridge that twists and breaks in the movie. I don't remember which movie but its in the intro. We walked past Shakespeare's Globe theatre. We had to take photos for our essay. We are going to the theatre after we finish Macbeth. Another essay photo Along the walk we stopped at this super cute card store. The lady was so nice! She was born in Cali but lived in Britain her whole life so she had a cute accent! This was on the pavement during our walk. These are all over the Tube. I think they are so funny. The dog is so cute, I mean look at the eyes. Come on "dogumentaries"!

We went to the tower of London for most of the day. We have classes in the morning and then lunch. After lunch, we headed out as a group. It was good weather in the morning but closer to 4 pm it was getting cold. The tower is in the middle of the city. It is weird to see these of building next to modern ones. Here is a wall from when Roman conquered England. |
