We meet with our class for a few minutes to talk about our plans for the week. This week is museum week so we will be visiting as many musueems as possible because we have a 6 day pass that gets us into almost all the musueems in paris for free. The class then split into several small groups and we each did our own thing. 7 of us went to the Eiffel Tower. We took the metro to the tower and got to see more of the city on the way there. Everything is really dirty. I'm very really been to a big city so I don't know how it compares but one of the first things I noticed when I came to Paris is how much graffiti there is everywhere and just how dirty it is. The second this is how much everything reeks of cigarette smoke yet I don't see people smoking. Like I will walk out of a metro station and it smells like someone is smoking right there yet there isn't every anyone. All over are people selling the same little trinkets. He is one of the many vendors I saw. It was raining and cloudy but we were able to find the Eiffel tower! Its so pretty in person! It was too cloudy to go up to the top so we will have to go back another day. Every hour the for 5 minutes the tower lights up and sparkles. I had a little video of it sparkling but it won't let me upload videos on this web format. Then we walked around Paris for 1 and half looking at all the different fancy building that are close to the Tower. Then we found our way to Arche De Triomphe. We took a passage under the road to get to the centre since it has 5 lanes of traffic going around it. But we just ended up on the other side so we are going to try another day and find a way to the middle. Our pass lets us go to the top for free as long as we do it by Saturday.

I left SLC on Friday (19th) to go to Paris!! The plane left 1:30 hour late but we still made it on time. The flight was kinda lame. The food was pretty bad, not really sure half of it should be considered food. The TV infront of me didn't work for half the flight so it was a long flight with nothing to do. The weather in paris was pretty cloudy so I couldn't see much when we flew in. A few other girls in the study abroad happened to be on the flight so we were able to go to the hotel together. Half of the girls took ubers or taxis. Three girls and I took the metro to the hotel. It took almost 2 hours to get to the hotel because we had to wait in line so long to even get a ticket and then it took forever to carry our luggage up and down many flights of stairs. I'm pretty sure I'm taking an uber to the airport becuase it was so hard lugging that much stuff around and to split an uber by several people it would be the same price as a metro ticket. There was man on the metro who just keep singing Despacito over and over and he was not a good singer. It was very comical, you could tell people on the train were trying to not laugh. The hotel is pretty nice! We each get our own rooms and bathrooms. They have tvs but all the chanels are in french and they don't have any english subtitles. There is this one show that is on every morning that is super dramatic and has people getting arrested for something about paterinty tests of their child. Its fun to watch and see the drama. They also show so many car commercials! Like 3 in a row! It just car commercial after car commerical. Here is the view from out side of my window. It rain all days and night Saturday. We went to a little grocery store that was just a 4 min walk from the hotel. It didn't have any peanut butter so that was sad. It had over 20 varities of honey but no peanut butter. We didn't do anything tonight because theres not much to do around here since we are in Puteaux which is just outside of Paris.
